Every version of the macOS app, newest first

The app checks for updates on its own — you'll be offered the new version from Account → Check for Updates. Versions that only changed the app icon are folded into the entries below.

2.3.0 2026-09-11

• Choose the name and folder of each download. Turn on Settings → General → “Ask where to save each download”: a Save dialog opens before each download, with the video’s title already suggested.
• The video card always matches the address you entered. A finished download stayed on screen while a new link was being analysed, as if the app were about to download the wrong video.
• A link pasted right after launch uses your built-in browser session. Until the Browser tab had been opened, the session was not sent along, and sites that require signing in answered with a 403 error.
• A video whose title is a file name no longer ends in .mp4.mp4.

2.2.0 2026-09-10

• The app is available in Spanish and German. The whole interface is translated, and so is this site. Choose the language in Settings, or with the switcher at the top of every page.
• The macOS menus follow the app’s language. File, Edit, View, Window and Help stayed in English. They change at the next launch.
• A channel or a playlist can be selected and deleted. On the Downloaded tab, Select All and the Trash button did not respond on those two filters. Every channel and playlist now has its own checkbox, and the count shows the number of files that will go to the Trash.

• Downloads refused with “HTTP Error 403: Forbidden” work again. Version 2 was not updating the component that reads video sites; after a few weeks, YouTube stopped accepting it.
• The app shows the resolution it will actually save. The video card shows the highest resolution the source offers next to the one Yaniko will save — and says clearly when it could not check, instead of offering every resolution up to 8K.
• In the Browser tab, the video you click on is the one that gets sent. Previously the starting page was sent instead, until you reloaded it.
• Signing in through the built-in browser now counts everywhere. Settings → Download → Cookies → Built-in Browser had no effect in version 2, and analysing a link ignored your cookies even though the download used them.
• A link you have just downloaded is no longer put back in the URL field when you return to the app.

2.1.1 2026-09-09

• A link shared from Safari arrives complete. A video inside a playlist, or shared at a specific time, lost that information on the way.
• Sharing a link works even when the app is closed. From Safari, by dropping it on the Dock or through a shortcut, the app replied that the engine was not running.
• The screen shown when the app cannot start is in your language. It appeared in French on every Mac.

• Open a transcript’s folder. Every finished row has a button that shows the .srt file in the Finder, with the .txt and .json files next to it.
• Choose where transcripts are saved. By default they stay next to the video; pick a folder in the Transcription tab to gather them there.

2.0.1 2026-09-08

• Version 2.0.0 offered itself as an update. At every launch it proposed the version you had just installed: it was comparing the published version with the engine’s number instead of its own.
• Transcription works with a single model installed. If the model expected on this Mac is not the one you downloaded, the app offers to fetch it instead of failing.
• The transcription list can be cleaned up. Every row has a Remove button again, and the list has a Clear list button — a failed row could no longer be removed.

2.0.0 2026-09-08

• A new app, built for macOS. Fully native, it keeps everything the previous version did, in the same place. It installs over the old one: licence, settings and history are preserved.
• Search your transcripts. Every transcript is indexed as soon as it is written. Type a few words in the Downloaded tab: each result opens the video at the moment they are spoken.
• Extract a clip from a video. Set a start and an end, then choose Precise or Fast — Fast is lossless, but the cut moves back to the previous keyframe.
• Yaniko is integrated with macOS. A panel in the menu bar, a “Yaniko” entry in Safari’s Share menu, two Shortcuts actions and an entry in the Services menu.

1.12.0 2026-08-23

• A Scan button, so a pasted link isn't looked up behind your back. Paste, drop or send a link and nothing happens until you press Scan — then the thumbnail, title, length and available quality appear. Download still works without it.
• Transcribe video and audio you already have. A new Transcription tab takes files from anywhere on your Mac — drop several at once, or pick them — and writes the subtitle, text and JSON files beside each one. Premium, Apple Silicon for now.

1.11.1 2026-08-23

• A gear beside the tabs opens Settings. 1.11.0 moved everything you set once into a Settings window and left ⌘, and the menu bar as the only ways in. Now there is a button, on every tab.
• The folder line under the Download button is plain text again, with the full path when you hover it. It looked like a link before and gave no sign of being one.

• Paste a link and see what you got. The Download tab now shows the video's thumbnail, title, channel, length and best available quality before you download it — so a wrong link in the clipboard is obvious straight away.
• Everything you set once is in Settings now (⌘,): the save folder, the codec, the cookie source, the transcription model and language, and the app's own language. The Download tab keeps what changes from one video to the next, folded into a single line you can open when you want it.
• Every control in the app now has a name VoiceOver can read out. The quality and format menus used to announce their value and never what they were for.

1.10.0 2026-08-22

• Transcribe what you download, on your Mac. Turn it on and every download also gets a subtitle file, a plain text file and a timestamped JSON beside it. Premium, Apple Silicon for now — Intel Macs are coming in a later update.
• Nothing is uploaded: the audio never leaves your Mac. The language model is downloaded once, when you ask for it, and can be deleted again from the same screen.

• Fixes now reach the app on their own. Most updates no longer need a new download — the app picks them up and applies them at its next start.

• You are now told when a fix for a site needs a newer version of the app. Until now the app stayed quiet and the site simply went on failing.

• A live readout while a download runs — speed, average, how much has arrived out of the total, and the time left, in place of the log until it finishes.
• Automatic speed now adapts on short downloads too. It used to need about 18 seconds before it would adjust anything, which most downloads never reach.

• Downloads are faster on many sites. A new View → Download Speed setting decides how much: Automatic — the default — adjusts itself while a download runs, or choose Fast or Maximum yourself.
• On the Batch tab, choosing embedded subtitles now warns you when the format you picked cannot show them, as the Download tab already did.

• A pasted channel now offers everything it holds — Videos, Shorts, Live and the channel's playlists — instead of depending on which form of the link you copied.

• The browser you pick under Advanced options → Cookies is remembered between launches, along with a cookies file if you chose one.

• Playlist and channel links now point you to the Batch tab, which shows what the listing holds and lets you pick. Download stays on one video at a time.
• A link copied while watching from a playlist downloads that video on its own.

• The queue survives quitting. Close the app mid-batch and your links are still there when you reopen it, paused — Resume all picks up where you left off.
• Drag a link onto the window from your browser, on either Download or Batch.
• The Language menu now lists English, French and Dutch only. The app is translated into those three, so it no longer offers to follow a system language it cannot speak.
• The queue's summary line counts paused items, and shows only what the queue actually contains.
• Pasting a link and switching back to the app now fits the quality menu to that video straight away.

• The Download tab now explains itself until your first download — the three steps, and what the free tier gives: as many downloads as you like, up to 720p.
• Failures are explained in your language. The technical line stays in the log; underneath it, what actually happened and what to do about it.
• The keyboard shortcuts a Mac expects — ⌘Z, ⌘W, ⌘M, ⌘1–⌘4 for the tabs, and a Window menu.

• The app no longer calls your one-time purchase a subscription, and the message about how many Macs a licence covers now fits Premium Family too.
• Corrected the app's internal identifier. Once, after updating: macOS asks again for access to your downloads folder, and the Browser tab needs you to sign in again.

• The app updates its download engine on its own, in the background. Each update is signed and checked.
• If an engine update ever misbehaves, the app goes back to the one it shipped with.
• The engine version appears next to the app version, and in problem reports.

• Fixed the app quitting outright while you were entering a link.
• The batch queue runs three downloads at once instead of one.
• Links join the queue as you paste them — the Add to Queue button is gone.
• A Clear queue button, which asks before emptying the list.

• A problem report leads with what the app was doing when it went wrong.

• YouTube downloads work again. The app carries its own JavaScript engine and needs nothing installed on your Mac.
• Copy a link, switch back to the app, and the address is already in the field.
• A notification when a download or a queue finishes, and the percentage on the Dock icon.
• Your save folder, quality, format and audio-only choices are remembered between launches.
• Premium options stay visible with a padlock instead of going missing from the menus.

• The free tier now goes up to 720p, in MP4, rather than 480p.
• The batch queue is Premium again, alongside 4K/8K, MKV and WebM, codec choice and subtitles. Downloads stay unlimited on every tier.
• Fixed the app freezing after a dialog was closed with its red button, ⌘W or the Window menu.
• Spanish and German removed — the app ships in English, French and Dutch.

• The batch queue is now free, with no limit on how much you queue.
• Choose the output format — MP4, MKV or WebM — and a preferred codec. Nothing is re-encoded. Premium.
• Subtitles, as a separate .srt file, embedded in the video, or both. Premium.
• Free downloads stay 480p in MP4, without subtitles.
• The codec, generic-extractor and cookie settings moved under Advanced options.
• Tick several videos in Downloaded and remove them in one go.
• The queue's Pause, Cancel and Remove buttons became icons.

• Fixed the batch queue stopping for good after a failure — a failed item now shows the reason and the queue carries on.

• When Premium stops working, the app says why — for instance that the licence has moved to another Mac.

• Fixed downloads above 360p producing a silent video plus a separate audio file — the app now ships its own FFmpeg.
